The clients wanted a large rural barn/shed
in which to store agricultural, gardening and leisure equipment. The building
is clad in timber and carefully detailed, which means it is a much more
attractive building than the standard metal sheds favoured in the locality.
It is also a surprisingly economical solution.
The barn/shed uses an existing pole structure which was cut back and braced
and a combination of straight and waney (rough) edge boarding. The straight
edge is used on the public road side with the waney edge being used on the
private, rural side. The change between the two types of timber at either
end of the building is punctuated by double doors at one end, and a window
at the other. |
