Shepherd House sits in a spectacular Grade B Listed walled garden that is open to the public. All elements of the garden, both architectural and horticultural are beautifully designed with loving care by the owners to form a perfect harmony.
The owners wanted to replace their existing tool shed. They chose a dry wall construction, to match other elements of their garden, and a fern roof to give depth and interest to a new green roof.
The varied ferns were chosen to match those already at ground level in the garden. Although fern does not have the reputation of lasting well in a roof situation this roof is thriving well, due to the specification of the roof and the protection given by the high stone boundary walls.
