A modest Georgian barn on a steading in Midlothian has been converted into accommodation for a growing family. The ground floor was remodelled to provide a large open-plan living area, study and bedroom alongside the kitchen. The attic was converted into a generous bedroom, bathroom and hallway / play area.
Natural materials were used throughout, including sheep’s wool insulation and wood fibre board, to maintain the breathability of the external skin as close as possible to that of the original building.
